First things first, even though we are all different, everyone has the same basic needs to feel safe, to have a place to sleep and to have food to eat. If we do not have these things life is hard. HAIL believes everyone has a right to have good support to make sure their needs are met so life is a little easier. HAIL provides people with help around the things they need be it health, home, money, friends, community or getting out and about.
Learning is not just about sitting in a classroom and reading books. At HAIL we want to see people learning the things they want to know, be it how to make a cup of tea, which bus to take to get to their friend’s house, when to drop a stitch or how to start a business. When we support people day to day in their home or out in the community HAIL focuses on how to help people to learn new skills. HAIL also supports people in the classroom, we offer weekly workshops, support people to do courses and to get qualifications.
We all have skills and at HAIL we want to see people turn the skills they have into real jobs. Jobs that earn them money, money which means that people do not have to live on benefits when they do not have to. Money that people can use to buy the things they want. HAIL works to create opportunities for people with a learning disability to be able to use their skills, we do this by supporting people to set up their own enterprises, employing people to work in our services and matching people with local businesses who need their skills.
HAIL believes everyone has the right to right live, love and get dumped. Friends, families and partners are the people we enjoy life with even though they sometimes cause us stress. HAIL wants to see people work with their friends, families and partners to find ways they can spend more good times together and less time with the people that are paid to be around. HAIL supports people to find things they want to do and people who they would like to do them with.
