Employment Services

Hails employment service is a resource for anyone with a learning disability who is a Haringey resident. The service is open to all service users and does not discriminate on ability. Each service user is treated as an individual and has a key worker.

We aim to support service users in all forms of employment, education and training.

Services we provide include:

  • Support in finding paid and voluntary work.
  • Support in finding work experience.
  • Job coaching while in work.
  • Training in new skills or accessing training.
  • Support in education.
  • Support in self employment.
  • Working with and supporting employers and other service providers.

The employment service also supports two enterprises:

STARS IN THE SKY

The friendship and dating agency for adults with learning disabilities in London. A social enterprise whose directors Lolita Jones and Pauline Geipel are women with learning disabilities.

Affordable, good quality gardening services provided by qualified workers with learning disabilities. We are particularly interested in developing sensory and cultural gardens.

In the next year we hope to develop more social enterprises which involve the employment and the training of people with learning disabilities. We have already started work on a sewing enterprise, concentrating on making clothes for the modern market.

The employment service is also working on projects which will support people with learning disabilities gain NVQ qualifications.
