Supported Living

Hail’s supported housing service is designed to support and enable people with learning disabilities to live independently in the community. We also want to have fun along the way.

Together with social services we perform an initial assessment of the service users needs to determine how much support they will require. Staff provide practical, emotional, medical, financial, educational and employment supports to service users to enable them live independently. There is no time limit for a service user to stay at the service although some service users may wish to use the service to develop their skills with the eventual aim of moving on to more independent accommodation. We continually assess and monitor service user skills to ensure that their needs are met and involve the service users in the planning of their support throughout.

The Altair Close project consists of ten self contained studio flats, each with a kitchenette, bathroom and sitting and bedroom area. There is a large communal area on the ground floor of the building which consists of a large kitchen and lounge as the studio flats only have a hob and microwave oven. Service users use the communal kitchen when they need to use a conventional oven. The communal area also has a pool table, a cd player, television and games.

The Philip Lane project comprises of 8 furnished flats for service users, staff office, meeting room, kitchen, bathroom, sleep-in room, 2 laundry rooms and back garden used for tenants meetings and parties in the summer.

The Kitchener Road project has recently been refurbished to accommodate two service users.
